So you've heard about affiliate marketing, but have no clue what it is or how it works? Well, let me try to help you out! An affiliate
someone who promotes a
product or service for another company and in return earns a commission on what
they sold. Affiliate marketing is the actual process of promoting the products for companies! OK, for example. Let's just say that I am an affiliate of a book store. This means that I have signed up with their affiliate program to sell their products. Now, for every book that I sell I would make a commission on that sale. What a great deal! Most affiliate programs are FREE to join so all you have to do is sign up with them and start selling their products. This is also an excellent way to sell products without having to ever touch a product! They company you are promoting will be doing all of the handling of the products and the sales, you just have to get their name out there.
So, now you can set up a website (choose a free website builder or pay to host your own) and start promoting all of your affiliate programs! One good rule of thumb, is to stick to one main category. If you're promoting beauty products, stick to products that are related to this. Your visitors are coming to your site because they're looking for beauty products and you don't want to bombard them with tons of affiliate links or they'll find a new website for beauty products. A great place to go first, is Google AdSense. It's basically like making free money! It's 100% free to join. You place their ads on your site and every time one of your visitors clicks on those ads - you get paid. Most of the time it's a few cents to a $1 or so per click, but if you grab Joel Comm's book - you can easily start making a $50 - $500+ a day from AdSense.
