Creating
your own website is a lot of fun and so rewarding! This is my very
first website that I've made and I love it! Too many people have
their websites that are black and white. I wanted a website that
made people smile and actually WANT to come back.
1.
Decide on a topic. Choose something that you
love so that it interests you and makes you want to keep learning.
Start gathering lots of information. The more content you have on
your website the more people will want to stay there!
2.
Design your website. You can either purchase programs to do it
yourself or have some else do it for you. There are also hosts
(we'll get into that in #4) that have programs, once you've signed up
with them, that will help you design your website. Start
collecting content either by gathering information, writing articles or
finding articles that you can reprint. Search engines love
content and so will your visitors!
3.
Choose a domain name. (You can skip steps 3 and 4 of your are choosing a
free web site) . This means: www.
your domain name .com . Once you've decided on your name make sure
that it is available and that no one else has purchased it
already. You
can purchase a domain name and your hosting through 2 different
places. Shop around, many different business have VERY different
prices. Many hosting companies also offer your domain name for
free if you purchase your hosting through them.
4.
Choose a host. They are the people/business that
"displays" your website on the internet. If you are
starting your website as some sort of business then you are probably
going to want to purchase your web hosting. There are also many free hosts out there, but they typically do no let
you display the ads that you want and they cover your site with their
ads. Find affordable web hosting

5.
Start getting paid!! One
of
the best places to start is with Google AdSense! There's a ton to
learn here, but that'll come eventually. Google affiliates are
some of the top earners when it comes to affiliate marketing and I
personally, am amazed at how far my adsense income has improved each
month!
Plus,
start
applying to affiliate
programs that relate to your products. Places like CJ.com and
Linkshare.com are great places to find products related to your topic.
GoFreelance
- great for the work at home community
BlueHost
- promoting web hosting and those building a website
6.
Get your site noticed. The best thing that you can do for
your website is to optimize it. This is by far probably the most
important part, but there is so much to learn. Search google for
SEO (search engine optimization) tips. There are many places on
the internet where you can learn many of these tips for free so look
around. There are also many other things you can do to get
your site noticed. Head on over to VistaPrint to get some business
cards, note cards, magnets, rubber stamps, etc to hand out
everywhere you go!
DO NOT GIVE
UP!
If it's something you have a passion for ~
Go For It! Just remember to have patience, things don't happen
over night. There are billions of people surfing the net everyday,
you can't expect them all to find your site overnight. Just
keep adding more content to your site so your visitors want to keep
coming back AND tell more people about you! It can take a long
time to get the traffic to your site that you desire so don't
think it's going to happen overnight.
